Michigan, the Wolverine State, is the eighth largest state in population in the US. The state is one-half rural, and the remainder of the state is divided among manufacturing centers and fine educational centers. Of the 10 million people who reside in the state, nearly 8 percent (or about 800,000) are uninsured. Because of the recent trends in economic diversification, and because of a recovering job situation, many people are new residents who moved to the state for jobs.
